Short biography - Libo Shan Libo Shan is a Professor in the Department of Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology at the University of Michigan. Her research is dedicated to unraveling the genetic and biochemical intricacies behind how sessile plants sense pathogen infections and orchestrate immune responses while coordinating growth and development. With a primary focus on the regulatory mechanisms of plant immune sensory complexes and downstream signaling networks, her work aims to understand the molecular basis of plant immune signaling via protein phosphorylation and ubiquitination. Her group identifies components downstream of immune sensors by genetic screens in the model plant Arabidopsis. Beyond model systems, her lab is engaged in crop disease resistance improvement, pathogen monitoring in the field, and biotechnology development. |
